The motor is 2017 c-c with a
Dick Landy 75 c.i.d. blower and
a Holley 650 double pumper for a carberator

MSD electric ignition was
added for a little extra spark
I think the flames are a nice touch
The new close ratio trans with disc brakes
were a much needed addition

Well it’s the winter of 2002 and I am making a few changes for next year. The class five motor that was in the car sounded great but it’s bark was definitely worse than it’s bite, so I decided to install a motor with a little bite. How about a 2017 with a Dick Landy blower set-up. I’m running a 75 c.i.d. Holley blower and a 650 double pumper for carburetion. I’ve also added MSD electronic ignition to spark it all off. The blower has been slowed down enough to run on 91 octane pump gas but it still produces about seven pounds of boost at 6000 r.p.m. I don’t know the exact horsepower that the motor produces but I can tell you that this thing really scoots. The front-end comes up in both first and second gear.

I had a new transaxle built to handle the additional horsepower that the motor put out It has the Rhino case welded gears heavy-duty everything and was guarantied to withstand 250 h.p. It has close ratio gears in first through forth and CB disc brakes for more stopping power.

The engine cover had to be modified to make way for the protruding blower and carburetor so I came up with a design to also help cool the engine. I fabricated two large scoops that draw air in and down over the engine and exhaust but maintained the storage compartment in front of the motor. Storage space is a real problem in this car so I try to utilize every available spot.

I also added Line-lock to the braking system along with a residual pressure valve and a proportioning valve that are now required for the four wheel disc brakes. I use the line lock more for hill holding, on the street, than anything because the front-end slides if I try to power brake the car.

Last but not least we come to the flames. I wanted to repaint the whole car black with traditional flames but I just couldn’t afford that. So I settled for just adding the flames. I took the car to my buddy (Big John the Flame Rossi), at Rossi’s Auto-Body (707-545-4100) and he worked his magic on it.
