The fuel tank and headlight bar are the next thing to go on. I'm starting to make up the wire loom.
It's much easier to install the main loom before the body goes back on. Well I think it's about ready to go back on the ground.

The fuel tank is the original that was with the kit in the early seventies. It was made of steel and welded together. The tank probably only held about five gallons of gas and it had no sender for the gas gauge. It wasn’t too rusty inside and didn’t leak so I figured to save time I’d run it for now.   When I have more time I will build a stainless tank with more capacity and a sender. I did have to weld a couple of mounts to the front of the tank to mount the new headlight bar. Welding on a fuel tank is never a safe thing to do but if you are very careful and completely purge the inside of the tank with an inert gas, like CO2 or completely fill the tank with water, you stand a reasonable chance that you won’t blow yourself up.  I chose the water method and I’m still here, but welding a fuel tank is not to be taken lightly.

I made the new headlight bar from one inch round stainless steel bar. I have built a lot of parts from stainless steel and aluminum and polished them myself to avoid any more lies from the chrome shop about when the parts will be done.

A friend of mine who happens to be a writer for car magazines is supposed to come by in the next couple of days and take pictures of the chassis and the chrome shop still hasn’t finished with the plating work on the radiator shell.
